Josephine Boutwell Obituary

SHERMAN - Josephine (Jo) Gilliam Boutwell stepped into Heaven to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, the evening of Jan. 23, 2011. Funeral services for Mrs. Boutwell will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. James Crawford of the Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lone Cedar Cemetery near Dickson, Okla. with Bryan Boutwell, Brent Boutwell, Patrick Boatright, Bryant Baker, Deane Rutledge, and Mike Belew serving as pallbearers.

Jo was born April 10, 1928 at Mt. Washington, Okla. in Carter County to the late Timothy and Ann (Mathis) Gilliam. She married Haskell Boutwell on June 1, 1950 in Gainesville. They were married over 52 years when Mr. Boutwell passed away in February 2003.
Mrs. Boutwell was introduced to flipping houses by a friend before it became popular. It was a hobby she enjoyed for years and was able to do the majority of the work herself. Jo received great satisfaction and joy in giving old houses new life. She was a longtime member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Ladies Golf Association at Woodlawn Country Club. Jo was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was an extraordinary woman.

Mrs. Boutwell is survived by two sons, Terry Boutwell of Sherman and Larry Boutwell and wife Becky of New Braunfels; one daughter, Pat Boatright and husband Brian of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Maggie Curtis of Sherman, Amber Boutwell of Sherman, Bryan Boutwell and wife Carrie of Cibolo, Brent Boutwell of Cibolo, Laura Ann Baker and husband Bryant of New Braunfels, Jeana Harrison of Gainesville, Patrick Boatright of Knoxville, and Whitney Boatright of Knoxville; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Viola Willingham and husband John of Vernon, and Reta Morison of Sherman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Rhonda Carter, and two grandsons, Joey Boutwell and Brian Patrick Boatright.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
