SHERMAN - Charlie ""Glen"" Reece, age 82, entered into eternal life Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Avalon Memory Care in McKinney.|
Charlie Glen Dean Reece was born February 3, 1932 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; the son of Charlie and Fannie (Ferguson) Reece. He served his country proudly as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Reece married the love of his life, Juanita ""Ophelia"" Ensey on May 1, 1954 in Cashion, Oklahoma. He worked for a number of years at GTE Telephone Company as an engineer until his retirement. During his work at GTE he served as a reservist police officer for the Sherman P.D. and after retirement he worked at the Grayson County Sheriff's office. He was a well respected man who never met a stranger. He loved his family to no end, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Reece is survived by his beloved family, daughter, Marlena Arnold of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, Theresa Wade and husband, Nick of Denison, TX, Tamara White and husband, William of Sherman, TX, Tanya Hagood of Sherman, TX; Catherine Kirkpatrick and husband, Kevin of Frisco, TX; Lauren Dickens of Austin, TX; Glynn Dickens of San Antonio, TX and Brian Black of Sherman, TX; 12 great-grandchildren and brothers, Delvin Reece of Moore, OK and Bobby Reece of Oklahoma City, OK. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Juanita ""Ophelia"" Reece, daughter, Tonya Dickens and sister, Betty Bolles.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman, with Pastor Wesley Willie officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 in Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, OK.
