SHERMAN - Donald Anthony Richards went to meet his Lord on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Clyde Cosper Veteran's Home in Bonham at the age of 85.|
Don was born Monday, February 6, 1928 in Providence, R.I. to Anna (Deery) and Wilfred Richards. Don grew up in Providence where he attended school and subsequently graduated with a bachelor's degree from Bryant College (University) in Smithfield, R.I.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed at Marshal Island. He subsequently joined the USAF in 1951 where he had tours in Japan, Korea, Alaska and Okinawa. In 1967 he was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, where he retired in July 1971.
Don married Dolly Livingston (Richards), February 5, 1967. Dolly, his beloved wife passed from this life January 28, 2012.
Don was also preceded in death by his parents, and his stepson, Robert Livingston Jr., leaving his surviving spouse Kathie Livingston of El Cajon, Calif.
Don is survived by his brothers, Dr. Edward Richards and John Richards both of Providence, R.I., along with four nieces and a nephew; stepchildren, David W. Livingston and partner Charles Storey of Dallas, Leslie Schuster and her husband Phillip of Sherman, John Livingston and wife Dianne of Los Gatos, Calif., and Richard Livingston and wife JoAnn of Bells; grandchildren, Seth, Elizabeth, Ethan, Tonya, Christopher, Joe and Jessica; and 12 great- grandchildren.
Rosary services will be recited at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 16 at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Albert Miller presiding, with a visitation to follow from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Antonio Aureus presiding and Deacon Albert Miller assisting. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Full military honors will be performed by the Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard at the gravesite.
