HIDEAWAY - Services for Mr. Douglas Scott Burleson, age 69, of Hideaway, are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, in the Lindale First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Ivey & Dr. Bryan Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale.|
Mr. Burleson died on Friday, July 4, 2014 in the Hospice Homeplace in Tyler.
He was born on January 7, 1945 in Denison, Texas to Bennett Edward and Minnie Francena Scott Burleson and was formerly of Denison and Tyler before moving to Hideaway 35 years ago. Mr. Burleson was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in the US Army and was a member of the Lindale First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.
Doug loved to play golf and was a member of the Hideaway Men's nine hole and eighteen hole golf groups and was retired project engineer for the Trane Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett and Minnie Burleson.
Survived by: Wife: Mrs. Judy Burleson of Hideaway; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Scott and Angie Burleson of Corinth; Daughter and Son-In-Law: Brooke and Cameron Rose of McKinney; Brother and Sister-In-Law: Richard and Linda Burleson of Denison; Sister and Brother-In-Law: Nonnie and Benny Bardwell of Denison; four Grandchildren: Cam and Blake Rose, and Holt and Stella Burleson.
Pallbearers: Jerry Godfrey, Herschel Tipton, Billy Black, Richard Stallings, Paul Pennington, Wayne Williamson, Jerral Seale, Harry Poulan, Ronald Starks, Doug Helt, Lloyd Sims, Frank Lowe, John Schenck, Tom Thompson, Jon Lyons, and Ed Birckbichler.
Honorary pallbearers will be former Trane co-workers, Chris Johnson, Paul Thompson, and Dennison High School friends, class of 1963.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
Memorials may be made to the Lindale First United Methodist church building fund or to the Hospice of East Texas.
