Elizabeth Betsy (Monroe) Woodard Obituary
Elizabeth "Betsy" Monroe Woodard died on July 31, 2015, in Austin, TX, surrounded by her family, following a 10 year battle with an auto immune disease, Wegener's granulomatosis.

The youngest of five children, Betsy was born November 20, 1956 in Sherman, Texas to Dr. Stanley and Eleanor Monroe. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1975, then attended TCU and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in art. She worked for the U. S. Postal Service until her retirement in 2008.

Betsy was creative, making many beautiful gifts for friends and family. She loved going to flea markets and searching for old items that she could give new purpose. She had a caring spirit and desire to help others and most importantly she had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Betsy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Shannon Minor; her brother, Stanley Monroe, Jr.; and her father, Dr. Stanley Monroe, Sr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Emily Woodard and Josue Perez; son, Caleb Woodard; granddaughters, Tatiana, Celeste and Eleanore Perez; brothers, Alan and Ronald Monroe; and sister, Kathie Buchanan. She also had a special place in her heart for her former husband, Vernon Woodard, the father of her children.
