ack W. Nunnelee, longtime resident of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with a rare brain tumor. He was born in Bonham, Texas on Feb. 11, 1941 to Robert Bradford and Hazel Morgan Nunnelee. He is survived by his wife, Jane; brother, Bob; nephew and wife, Bobby and Cici; and nephew and wife, Rusty and Shelley. Jack was an earnest and principled man who cared deeply about his family. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.|
Jack grew up in Bonham, and was a proud son of Texas. He attended Bonham High School where he excelled in all sporting events, especially football, track, boxing, golf, and was a Bonham Purple Warrior through and through. Southern Methodist University was his choice for college, and he graduated with a BBA and MBA in banking and finance. He was a member of Beta Kappa Gamma, Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Theta Pi. He was also enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and a friend to many.
His banking career began at Republic National Bank where he moved up the ranks and was admired for his dedicated work by his superiors. He then moved on to be Bank President and principle financial investor at several area financial institutions including First Continental Bank, First Texas Bank, and First Bank of Balch Springs.
Jack loved the great outdoors and was an avid hiker and hunter, and appreciated the beauty of nature. He and his wife enjoyed numerous trips out west to see and enjoy the mountains, museums, and anything American Indian. He loved sitting on the porch in a rocking chair listening to music and would then move inside to watch the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and all the college games he could muster up in the weekend – a true sports enthusiast.
Jack has been a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services provided by Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, with graveside services and burial at Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Rosemary Redmond will officiate.
