James Lewis Anderson D.D.S. Obituary
POTTSBORO - With a view of his beloved Lake Texoma before him, and surrounded by his wife Nancy and close friends, Jim Anderson passed away peacefully at his home in Pottsboro, Texas on Monday, April 14, 2014.

James Lewis Anderson was born January 15, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Okla.; the son of Donald and Lavae (Henry) Anderson. Jim was never one to let life simply pass by, instead he chose to live every moment to its fullest and to accomplish goals and exemplary feats which many have only dreamed of.

In his early life Jim achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; as a young man he served as a captain in the Army during the Vietnam war, earning a Bronze star; he became a licensed pilot; taught boating courses for many years and holds a complete certificate from the United States Power Squadron achieving the rank of Navigator.

Jim graduated from the University of Missouri School of Dentistry at the age of 24 and practiced Dentistry in Oklahoma City for 30 years. Though his week days were spent in the dental office, weekends were enjoyed on Lake Texoma, a place where he often shared fond memories of spending time with his dad as a young boy.

Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Dunn in July of 1964. Jim and Nancy shared a wonderful life together for almost 50 years. Jim retired from his Dental Practice in 1999, and there wasn't much discussion that he and Nancy would relocate to their favorite spot, Lake Texoma.

Jim relished time on the lake with Nancy and friends, cruising the lake in his boat the Ataractic and savoring each full summer moon by anchoring out, or hosting full moon cruises.

After retiring Jim discovered a new hobby in the stock market, a hobby which prompted one of Jim's friends to quip…"Speaking of assets, Heaven sure picked up a big one!"

Jim was a courageous, highly intelligent man, a gentle soul with a generous spirit, and one who possessed that trait that all of us hope to have, he was a GOOD man. Jim's life examples impacted many, and he will be sorely missed by the so many who loved and cared for him.

Dr. Anderson is survived by his loving family, wife of almost 50 years, Nancy Anderson, sister, Jan Anderson, niece, Heather King, nephew, Brent Duggan, brother-in-law, Tom Barrett, nieces, Susan Kelleher and husband, Steve, Sara Ellerhorst and husband, Jim, and Jennifer Tenbarge and husband, Harold and their eight children.

Services celebrating the life of Jim Anderson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Lakeway United Methodist Church, 15015 N. State HWY 289, Pottsboro, TX 75076, with Rev. Virgie Holbrook officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jim's name to either PVES Foundation, P.O. Box 2347 Pottsboro, TX 75076 or Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Center St. Sherman, TX 75092.
