DENISON - Otney Michael "Mike" Parr passed away February 23, 2013 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Mike was born August 4, 1946 in Denison. He married Eugenia Suzanne "Suzie" Polk on August 19, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie; son, David; and brother, Larry.
He graduated from Denison High School in 1964, attended Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. in 1979, with a B.A. in history. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, from 1965-1969, and served in Special Forces in Thailand. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He worked as an estimator with various companies in Maryland, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. He retired in March of 2012. He was a member of the Texas Masonic Lodges in Denison, Texas and Canyon Lake, Texas and Hill Country Aero Modelers in Austin. He most enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, learning to fly his RC model airplanes, building RC airplanes, fly fishing, reading and watching the History Channel and BBC News.
In Mike's memory the family suggests donations be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, Houston, Texas.
The family will be having a private ceremony.
