Robert (Bob) Edgar Monroe passed from this life on May 19, 2014 at the age of 100 years at Settler's Ridge in Celina, Texas. Robert was born at Alba, Texas on November 13, 1913 to Edgar and Alpha Monroe. He graduated from Dallas' Forest Avenue High School in June, 1930 and started North Texas Agricultural College (now known as the University of Texas at Arlington) at the age of 16.

After retiring from a 20 year career with Conway Oil Company, he worked as the Director of Transportation for Denison ISD. He was a long time member and served as an elder at both Armstrong Avenue and Central Church of Christ in Denison, Texas. As a lay minister, he performed numerous weddings and funerals for both family and friends. He also served as the first male PTA President of Denison High School and served on the first Board of Directors of the Bible Chair at GCJC and on the Board of Directors of Oklahoma Christian College in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Robert was preceded in death by two wives, Frances Floyd Monroe of 37 years and Carrie Turner Monroe of 30 years, son-in-law Noel D. Wall, granddaughter and her husband, Shelley Wall Parks and Bill Parks, and granddaughter Jennifer Wall Mitchell.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Monroe Wall of Bells, son Bob Monroe and his wife Shirley of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Noelle Wall Sweany and husband Brian of Austin, Jeremy Monroe of Dallas and Jamie Monroe Sever and husband Rob of Highland Village; great grandchildren Greg Parks and his wife Andrea of Rockwall, Dustin Mitchell and his wife Destanie of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Madeline and Colin Sweany and Tanner and Brody Sever and one great-great grandson, Nolan Parks.

A memorial service will be held on May 29, 11 a.m. at Central Church of Christ, 601 Crawford in Denison. The service will be conducted by son Bob Monroe with Jeremy Monroe, Brian Sweany and Greg Parks.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family request memorial donations are made to the Gregg Pearson Foundation, 2531 Carl Rd, Arlington, TX 76015 or Central Church of Christ in Denison.
