Annie Ballard-Hailey Obituary
SHERMAN - Home going services for Annie Mae Ballard-Hailey, 89, of Whitewright will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, located at 301 W. Maple in Whitewright. Rev. Willie Ballard, Sr., pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church, Whitewright, will be the Eulogist along with Rev. Freddie Orr, Sr. officiating. Public visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Cravens Funeral Home, located at 225 W. Brockett St. in Sherman.
Annie Mae was born the 3rd of 9 children on June 4, 1921 in Ravenna, Texas to the parentage of the late Aaron and Almeta Brown. She received her early education while attending Fanning County Schools.
Annie met and married the late Arthur Ballard Sr. and to this marriage 15 children were born. Annie was a loving homemaker, working various domestic jobs, to not only help support her family, but also to support several other foster children she cared for over many years of her life. Later in life Annie would remarry to the late James Hailey, to this union one child was raised.
On Thursday, April 14, 2011, Annie Mae Ballard-Hailey entered into eternal rest from her home in Whitewright. She was preceded in death by 4 children, 2 brothers, three sisters, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Willie Ballard, Sr. and wife Evangelia of Sherman, Elmer Ray Ballard and wife Norma of Colorado Springs, Arthur Lee Ballard and wife Wilma, Charles Ballard, Alonzo Ballard and wife Rita, Terry Ballard all of Whitewright and Joe Earl Ballard and wife Cassandra of Fort Worth, Harrold Ballard; daughters, Hattie Orr and husband Rev. Freddie Orr, Sr. of Sherman, Carrol Jean Kemp of Denison, Dorothy Brown of Abilene and Shelia Ballard of Sherman; goddaughter, Taylor McKinney of Whitewright; sisters Lucy Bevels and husband William, Lizzie Briggs and Juanita Harrison and husband Charles all of Sherman; 60 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren and 80 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Annie M. Ballard-Hailey has placed trust in the Cravens Funeral home for her personal care and final arrangements.
