Esta Brookins Obituary
Esta Elizabeth Brookins went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the age of 96 years and 11 months. Esta was born May 29, 1916 to Austin Everett Claborn and Lona May (Owen) Claborn in Bells, Texas. She married J.W. Brookins, the love of her life, Dec. 1, 1934 in Randolph, Texas and they remained happily married until his death in 1989.

Esta's greatest joy was being with her family and taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when everyone was at her house. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bokchito, Okla. and enjoyed attending services until declining health resulted in her moving to Durant, Okla.

She is survived by daughters, Gail Wheeler and husband Cal of Durant, Jan Doughty and husband Junior of Calera, Okla., and Pat Laymon and husband Rick of Bokchito; grandchildren, Ken Doughty and wife Shellie of Paradise, Texas, Keith Doughty of Bokchito, Jason Jones and wife Kim of Pottsboro, Texas, Trent Laymon of Bokchito, Shelly Myers and husband Don of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Derrick Laymon and wife Yvonne of Bokchito; sisters, Opal Davis of Hereford, Texas and Martha Hackney of Rockwall, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esta was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, J.W. Brookins; daughter, Barbara Ann Brookins; brothers: Truman Claborn and J.P. Claborn and sister: Lula Jinkins.

Family hour will be from 7 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 19 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A Funeral service in her honor will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray chapel with Bro. Phillip Rowland officiating. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law Ken Doughty, Keith Doughty, Jason Jones, Trent Laymon, Derrick Laymon and Don Myers will escort 'Granny' to her final earthly resting place, Lindsey Cemetery in Randolph, Texas.
