She was born in Ector on July 24, 1918 on the property where she lived most of her life. She was the youngest child of Stella Bryan and G.W. (Doc) Baker. Etna is leaving behind four local area nieces: Mozelle Barr and husband Lewis, Carol Beck and husband Ronnie, Carolyn Dexheimer and husband Don, and Mary Carlson and husband Jack. There are other dear nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews who live in other parts of the U.S. She will be met when she arrives home by her parents, Lynwood her husband of 76 years who predeceased her in 2005, her brothers Bryan and Herman, her sisters Della May Jenkins, Edria Lea Dutton, and Elizabeth Dawson, and many other relatives and friends.
She was a life-time member of Ector United Methodist Church and the granddaughter of a Methodist Circuit Rider. She was an active member of Women's Society of Christian Service which became United Methodist Women and a noted Sunday school teacher. She and Lynwood were Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsors for several years. She gave Lynwood unqualified support during his years of scouting. For a number of years she worked at The Christian Bookstore in Sherman.
In her later years she resided at The Woodmoore in Bonham. She received wonderful care and attention from the staff of Mullican Care Center of Savoy for her last two years and in her last days her comfort was assured by Heart to Heart Hospice, for which the family is grateful.
May you always walk in sunshine
And God's love around you flow
for the happiness you gave us
No will ever know.
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
