DALLAS – A Celebration of life for Linda L. Bevels-Burks, 67, of Dallas will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2012 at Harmony Baptist Church, located at 2111 E. Tuck St in Sherman, Texas. Rev. Craig A. Davis, Sr will officiate and Rev. Ontario Jones, pastor of The Church at Philadelphia in Fort Worth, Texas will be the Celebratory Messenger. Committal Service will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Public visitation will be on Friday August 31, 2012 from 10 a.m. 6 p.m. at Cravens Funeral Home located at 225 W. Brockett St in Sherman.

Linda was born April 25, 1945 in Sherman to William and Lucy Dehorney Bevels. She graduated in 1963 from Fred Douglas High School in Sherman. Linda held several different jobs while traveling in the military with her family, and retired from GTE (Verizon) in 2003 after more than 23 years of dedicated service. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile. She loved her children, family, friends and cooking. But her greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
On Thursday, August 23, 2012, Linda Entered into eternal life from Methodist Charlton Hospital in Dallas. She is survived by her son; Bruce D. (Doug) Burks, Jr. (Heather) of Dayton, Ohio, daughter; Shantrell R. Boyd of Dallas, parents; William and Lucy Bevels of Sherman, grandchildren: Bruce D. Burks, III of Abilene, Texas, Cassius D. Burks of Jacksonville, Fla., Shaliese R. Boyd of Dallas, Patrick M. Gathron of San Antonio, Texas, Jacob Burks of Sherman, and Maya R. Burks of Dayton, sister: Joyce Charles (Lonsie) of Fort Worth, aunts: Juanita Harrison (Charles) and Lizzie Briggs, both of Sherman, sisters-in-law: Leola Hale (John), Renee Swoope and Jacqueline Bailey, all of Cleveland, and many other relatives and friends.
