SHERMAN - A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Lola Evelyn Craven, age 64, at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Progressive Baptist Church, located at 1101 E. Houston Street in Sherman. Pastor Craig A. Davis, Sr. will host the service, along with Rev. Alonzo McLean, Jr. who will deliver the Message of Comfort.

Lola Evelyn was born on September 9, 1946 in Sherman to parents Presley and Bertha Mae Jones, Sr. She was the fourth of eight children. She was sent out to receive her formal education from the Sherman Public Schools, graduating as member of the Fredrick Douglas Class of 1964.
Lola worked as a Manufacturing Specialist for Texas Instruments and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Her love of cooking and caring for others, especially for young children, would eventually compel her to open a daycare. She was affectionately referred to as "Lo Lo" by many of the children she cared for.
Early in life, Lola began serving God as a member of the Progressive Baptist Church. She was an active participant of the City Wide Ushers, traveling with the organization for many years. Later in life, Lola joined the Bethel Bells Baptist Church, were she served faithfully before reuniting with the Progressive Church Family.
On Friday, September 17, 2010, Lola slumbered away into eternal peace in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: William Ayers, Presley Jones, Jr., Moretta Estes and Melva Smith.
She is remembered by her husband, Howard Craven, Jr. of Sherman; sons, Bradford L. Jones of Seattle, Britt M. Jones, Shelby L. Craven and wife Michelle, Corey D. Rockins all of Sherman, John Murphy II and wife Kendra of Dallas; brothers, Medford Jones and wife Minerva, Talmon Jones and wife Gwen all of San Antonio, and Jesse L. Ayers of Longview; sister Lillie McLean and husband Rev. Alonzo Mclean, Jr. of Sherman; mother-in-law Dorothy Craven of Bells; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a multitude of other loving family and friends.
For the personal care of Lola, and the arrangement of her Life Celebration Service, the family has placed trust in the Cravens Funeral Home, located at 723 E. Pecan in Sherman.
