BONHAM - Graveside services for Michael Wayne Steen, 62, of Ivanhoe will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Duplex Cemetery. Mr. Marty Hutchings will officiate the service. Interment will be at Duplex Cemetery. Mr. Steen passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at his residence.|
Michael Wayne Steen was born on March 14, 1950 in Denison, Texas, to Bryan Steen, Jr. and Edith Lucille (Maloy) Steen. He married Laura Marie (Chandler) Steen on Aug. 12, 1982 in Oklahoma; she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1998.
Michael W. Steen was a graduate of Denison High School and received his degree in Conservation from Southeastern State University. Mike began his employment with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at Eisenhower State Park as a seasonal employee. He later worked as an Engineer for the MKT Railroad before returning to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for what would span a career of more than 30 years. He was Park Manager at Bonham State Park for 20 of those years before his retirement.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He especially loved the yearly fishing trips with his lifelong friends, Gary Lance, Felix Munson, and Eddie Pat Aldridge. He will be missed by all his many friends throughout the Texas State Park System.
He is survived by a brother, Bill Steen and wife Deena of Denison; granddaughter, Kyrsten Hicks of Sherman, Texas; and nephews Charles Wayne Steen and wife Gina of Bellefonte, Pa.; and Jimmy Don of Ashland, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Steen.
No formal family visitation will be held.
