SHERMAN – Graveside services for Robert "Bob" Dean Deffibaugh 88, of Sherman will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Bill Mayes officiating. Mr. Deffibaugh passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, at Texoma Medical Center. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.|
Bob was born Nov. 27, 1924 in Caney, Kan. to Otis M. and Maybelle (Hixon) Deffibaugh.
As a young boy his family moved to Borger. Bob experienced both the depression and the "Dust Bowl." Both of these events gave him the strength and wisdom he passed to his family. He married Jean Earnest on Feb. 14, 1947 in Borger and they were married for more than 65 years. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He moved his family to Sherman in 1968 where he worked as a glazier for George's Glass Shop and he retired in 1984. Bob was a member of the Adult Social Club where he and Jean played 42.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Merideth R. Deffibaugh and Otis Deffibaugh and sister Ruth Carson.
He is survived by his wife Jean; daughters Judy Russell of Amarillo, Nancy Mahan and Alyce Deffibaugh both of Sherman; sons, Steve Deffibaugh and wife Judy of Princeton, and David Deffibaugh and wife Pam of Sherman; four grandchildren, Michael Sims, Christina Deffibaugh, Megan Mahan and Brandon Deffibaugh and wife Amanda; 5 ½ great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Washburn and husband Dick of San Marcos, and numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Waldo Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the donor's favorite charity or the Woods Street Church of Christ, 2100 N. Woods, Sherman, TX 75092.
