SHERMAN - Funeral services for Terry Edwin Taylor will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Grayson Bible Baptist Church. Dr. Eddy Johnson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at Friendship Cemetery with Stephen Jenkins, Randy Jenkins, Col Bobby C. Armstrong Jr, Andrew Taylor, Marcus Taylor, Harold Hill Taylor III, Christopher Franson, and Terry Neal Franson serving as pallbearers. Mr. Taylor, 70, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Dallas Veteran's Hospital.

Terry was born Aug. 12, 1942 in Sherman to the late Harold Hill Taylor and Ina Mae (Flowers) Taylor. Graduating from Sherman High School in May 1961, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and began serving in June. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam transporting troops while aboard the USS Catamont. After his military service, Terry went to Cozier Technical School in Dallas, training to be a plumber and pipefitter. On December 17, 1966, he and Linda Jenkins were married in Sherman. Terry worked primarily as a welder and was so confident in his ability that he once bragged that "he was pretty sure he could weld up the crack of dawn." He was also a certified welding inspector and traveled throughout the United Stated doing pipeline inspections. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, and working in his shop. Mr. Taylor was a longtime member of Grayson Bible Baptist Church and the NRA.

Terry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda of Sherman; one daughter, Jeana Taylor and boyfriend Paul Brown of Carrollton; two sons, Jason Taylor and wife Jennifer of Richardson and Joel Taylor and wife Shelly of Whitewright; nine grandchildren, Christopher Franson, Erica Hulstein and husband Steel, Brittany Franson, Sarah Taylor, Terry Neal Taylor, Laura Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Davis Taylor, and Arjen Taylor; three great grandchildren, Michael Franson, Christian Hulstein, and Steel Hulstein; and two brothers, Harold Taylor and his wife Donna of Howe and Ronald Taylor of Sherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Dyllan Franson.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Grayson Bible Baptist Church Building Fund at 4400 E. U.S. Hwy 82, Sherman, TX 75090. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
