SADLER - Walter J. Bechtol, 88, was born February 15, 1925 in Garland to Elmer and Eva Bechtol. He married Lavana Ryan on March 3, 1956 in Durant, Okla. He passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Sherman.
Walter served his nation in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He moved to Sadler in 1990 and attended the Sadler Methodist Church.
He is survived by wife, Lavana Bechtol of Sadler; son, Walt Bechtol and wife Tina of Mesquite; daughter, Jonnie Stewart and husband Dwight of Sachse; grandchildren, Jonathan Baker of Nampa, Idaho, Nicholas and Matthew Bechtol of Mesquite; great-grandsons, Christian and Cruz Baker of Nampa, Idaho; sister, Blanche Foster of Sachse.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Services were held at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, and interment followed on Saturday, December 21 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
A memorial service is planned in Sadler at a later date.
