Funeral services for William Wayne "Bill" Vaughn, 67, of Sherman will be held at 10 a.m, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Parkview Church of Christ in Sherman. Entombment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Pallbeares will be Jeff Starkey, Jacob Marshall, Eugene Handeland, Jeremy Coble, Eric Vaughn and Eugene Sanford. Honorary Pallbearer will be Richard "Dick" Williams. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.|
William passed away on January 25, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
He was born in Denison, Texas on May 23, 1945, the son of James Watson Vaughn and Lallie Duren Vaughn. William joined and served in the United States Air Force. He married Peggy R. Coble on June 24, 1967 in Sherman, Texas. William was an active 45 year member of the Elks Lodge in Denison and Sherman. During this time, he served in many different officer positions including Exalted Ruler, and he received Exalted Ruler of the year award for the North District 2007-08. William worked for Johnson & Johnson for 37 years. He loved bowling, woodworking and adored his granddaughters.
William is survived by his wife, Peggy R. Vaughn of Sherman; daughter, Kelly Fossee and husband Joe of McKinney; son, Jason Vaughn of Sherman; two granddaughters, Ella Fossee and Sloane Fossee; mother, Lallie Vaughn Killough of Sherman; brothers, Thomas Vaughn and wife Darlene of Sherman, Roger Vaughn and wife Janny of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters, Brenda Kanz and husband Don of Dallas, Betty Marshall of Sherman; brother, Eddie Bowman of Sherman; sister-in-law, Robin Vaughn of Arlington; aunts, Lois Vaughn White of Denison, Doris Duren Pierce of DeKalb, Frances Duren Gaines of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
William was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, James and Jerry Vaughn and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Monroe E. and Evelyn R. Coble.
Family night will be held on Tuesday, January 29, from 6 -8 p.m., at Waldo Funeral Home.
