POTTSBORO – Jewell Castle Egner passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Sherman, Texas.|
Her daughter moved her to Sherman six years ago from Houston to locate her at The Renaissance.
Jewell was born Friday, January 30, 1920. She was 94 years old. She was the daughter of Gertrude and John Castle and was born in Nippa, Kentucky. She was the second to last of five children and has outlived her brothers and sister.
She graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Homemaking. While at school, she crossed paths with a dashing young man dressed in his uniform from A & M who was there from Texas only to do a demonstration for his father's machinery and paint company Egner Brothers. They corresponded for a year and then married. The marriage lasted 52 years until Paul Egner died in 1995 from complications from Parkinsons.
Jewell was a light to all of us, never complaining and always smiling. She was our earth angel.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Moorehead and husband Bob; son Paul Egner III and wife Brenda; granddaughter Wendy Zavaleta and husband Tony; grandson Wes Brown and wife Rosa; five great-grandsons, Chad Thompson, Brent Thompson, Alexander Zavaleta, Daniel Brown and Nicolas Brown.
