Flo Whittington Obituary
DENISON - Flora Mae "Flo" Whittington, age 73, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, March 7, 2014 at Texoma Medical Center.

Mrs. Whittington was born January 20, 1941 in Asher, Okla. the daughter of Joseph B. and Ollie V. (Byrd) Bowen. She married the love of her life, Vernon Ray Whittington, April 6, 1963 in Gainesville, Texas.

Flo retired from Denison Independent School District after 23 years of dedicated service. She was very active over the years serving as a Campfire Blue Bird Leader for 4 years and PTA officer for 7 years. Flo also had a state and national life membership for PTA and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church.

She was a loving and caring, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Her warm heart and big smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Whittington leaves behind her beloved family, daughters, Brandy Doty and husband, James of Denison and Shelley Bartholomew and husband, Darin of Gilbert, Ariz., granddaughters, Nicole Doty, Ashley Coffman and husband, Addison all of Denison, Texas, and Taylor Bartholomew of Gilbert, Ariz., grandsons, Jake Bartholomew and Luke Bartholomew both of Gilbert, great granddaughter, Kyleigh Lahmers of Denison, brother, Tommy Bowen of Denison and sister, Mary Shaffer of Denison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, David Bowen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Private family interment will follow in Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 10,at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Bowen, James Doty, Darin Bartholomew, Phil Shaffer, Addison Coffman, James Lively, and Danny Taylor.
