Charles Bradley Wertz Obituary
SHERMAN - Funeral services for Charles Bradley Wertz will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1900 West Lamberth, Sherman, Texas. Charles was born December 23, 1934 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Bradley Leo and Beulah Snider Wertz and passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Traditions Senior Living in Sherman.

Charles received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music from University of Kansas and a Master's of Arts in Music from University of North Texas.

Charles married Lynn Tingleff in Clinton, Iowa August 29, 1954. They had five children together. He later married Georgia Dene Doty in Manhattan, Kansas, April 26, 1974.

Charles was a music educator for many years at various cities in Wisconsin and Kansas and moved to Sherman in 1976 where he taught Orchestra in Sherman schools for five years. He taught strings in the Dallas Public schools from 1981-2001.

After retirement in 2001, he returned to college earning his second Master's Degree in Music. He had a long and distinguished career in music as a concert violinist, playing for the Sherman Symphony Orchestra, GarIand Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonic Symphony of Irving, and most recently, the Classic Strings. He was elected Treasurer of the Texas Unit of the American String Teachers Association, a position he held for a number of years. For many years he was the choir director at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was a member. He was very influential in the lives of many students and lovers of music.

He is survived by his wife Georgia of Sherman, one brother Joe Wertz and wife Joan of Santa Monica, California, one son, Charles Bradley Wertz, Jr. and wife Lynette of Lawrence, Kansas, four daughters, Marcy Gaston and husband Kurtis of Gladstone, Missouri, Ellen Wood and husband Jeff of Allen, Texas, Anne Richards and husband Mark of College Station, Texas, and Barbie Stanush and husband Mark of Midlothian, Texas. Additionally, Charles is survived by four step-sons, Kevin Little and wife Lisa of St Joseph, Missouri, Gordon Little and wife Martha of Sherman, Brian Little and wife Linette of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Marty Little and wife Janna of Sherman. He is survived by 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday at the Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.
