VAN ALSTYNE - Gordon Eugene (Gene) Maines Age 64 of Van Alstyne, Texas, formerly of Danville, Ill. passed into the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior Thursday, March 13, 2014.

He was born December 10, 1949 in Danville, Ill. to Margery and Gordon Maines. He graduated from Danville High School, Danville, IL in 1967. He worked for the City of Plano as the Night Shift Supervisor of Fleet Services.

He is survived by two sons Tony (Renee) Maines of Florida and Eric Maines of Van Alstyne, Texas; step brothers: Charles and Gordon Everett Maines of Florida; step sister: Cynthia Fussle of Florida; grandson, David Maines; sisters, Teresa (Joseph) York of Wylie, Texas and Annette Walker of Antler, Oklahoma; brothers, Kenneth (Charlene) Ping of Tom Bean, Texas, David (Dorne) Ping of Marble Falls, Texas, David (Jani) Downey of Sherman, Texas, Harold (Robin) Downey of S. Carolina, Matthew Downey of Carrollton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon Maines and Margery Downey; half sister Christina (Skeeter) Flowers, nephew Robert Ping.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 17. Service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 at the Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas with Rev. Chris Galloway officiating. Burial will follow in Akers Cemetery.
