Linda Jean Horne


1945 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
ALLEN - Linda Horne, age 68 of Allen, Texas passed away on May 27, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Linda was born on October 13, 1945 in Temple, Texas to Edward and Sybil Barcuch. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Master's Degree in Nursing, and taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Grayson College from 1983 to 2012. In 2000, Linda was selected as one of the "Dallas-Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses" for her significant contribution to the Registered Nursing profession.

Linda was an inspiration and professional role model to hundreds of nursing students throughout her career at Grayson College. She will always be remembered for her infectious laughter, her positive outlook on life and her intense love and dedication to family and friends. Every student who graduated from the nursing program, and every instructor that had the honor to teach alongside Linda has been, and will always be blessed from simply knowing her.

She is survived by her sons, Derek Horne of Allen, Texas and Jason Horne of Dallas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Horne and Emily Horne; sister, Maidene Lawler of Lot, Texas; family friend, Teresa Williams (who was like a daughter to Linda) of Wylie, Texas; beloved dog, Tabasco; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Linda was preceeded in death by her husband, Butch and brother, Edward Barcuch.

The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Funeral services will be at the same location on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Linda Horne memorial scholarship fund at Grayson College.
