BONHAM - Funeral Services for John Charles Jones, age 77 of Bonham, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Bonham, Texas, 710 N. Center Street. Rev. Morgan Malone will officiate. Interment will follow at Carson Cemetery.

Mr. Jones passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. John Charles Jones was born on May 24, 1937 to I.O. and Noama (Hughes) Jones in Ector, Texas. He graduated from Bonham High School in 1955 and graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas in 1958. He was a member of the Paragon Social Club and the Kappa Alpha fraternity.

John worked for the J.C. Penny Company for over 20 years, starting in Longview, Texas in 1960. He traveled over the years and managed J.C. Penny stores in Louisiana and Texas. In the early 80's, John won the prestigious Chairman's Award while managing J.C. Penny's in Big Town Mall in Mesquite, Texas. He owned PSC Construction, doing apartment rehab in the Dallas Metroplex and Houston areas. John and his wife, Laura, moved to Bonham in 1993.

John Jones is preceded in death by his parents I.O. and Noama (Hughes) Jones of Ector, Texas; and his oldest brother – Robert H. Jones of Fort Worth, Texas. John is survived by his loving wife Laura, sons – Jeffery Jones of Winona, Texas and Jason Jones and wife Kim of Highland Village, Texas; daughter – Sherri Taylor Atkins of Dangerfield, Texas; four grandsons – Phillip Jones and wife Rachel of Fort Worth, Texas; Jackson and Keeton Jones of Highland Village, Texas; and Calvin Taylor and wife Adaner Rios of Athens, TX. Brother – Carrol Wayne Jones of Bonham, TX. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Hughes, Carl Brakebill, Jr Wilkerson, Bob McCraw, T. Moore, and Raul Olquin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Mangum, Jason Jones, Jeff Jones, Phillip Jones, Richard Campbell, Gene Branderberger, Gilbert Welch, Leonard Gearner, Rev. W. C. "Bill" Beasley, and John Lodwick.

Family Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday at Cooper – Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas.
