DENISON - Bonnie Jean Doty, 80, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.|
The family will be at Fisher Funeral Home for visitation from 6 -8 p.m.on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at 604 W. Main in Denison.
Funeral services for Bonnie will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church located at 1900 Woodlawn Blvd in Denison. Pallbearers will be Michael Doty, Trey Doty, Jody Brock, Adam Doty, Alex Burns, and Chris Ivy. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas.
Bonnie was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Denison the daughter of Elton Havanna and Edith Carender Smathers. She married J. C. Doty, Sr. son of Nora and Willie Doty in Denison Oct. 25, 1947. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1989.
She was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker until 1990 when she began her career with Wal-Mart, Inc. She retired in 2010 after 20 years of service. She loved to have the entire family of 35 at her home to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Her favorite pastime was listening to gospel music in several local communities with her friends.
She is survived by son, J. C. Doty, Jr. and wife, Debra of Denison; daughters, Debbie McFatridge and husband, Dwayne of Fort Worth; Kathy Nunez and husband, Tony of San Antonio; Shirley Johnston and husband, Wayne of Denison; daughter-in-law, Debbie Moore of Sherman and her husband, James; brother, Fern Smathers and wife, Joanna of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters-in-law, Nancy Smathers of Denison and Ann Smathers of Sherman; grandchildren, Tammy Bowles, Michael Doty, Trey Doty, Larry Tracy Jr., Jody Brock, Adam Doty, Brittany Ivy, Alex Burns, Spencer Burns, Tim Johnston, Christie Johnston, Nathan Johnston, and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Daniel Thomas Doty, brothers, E. H. Smathers, Elmer Smathers and his wife, Zelta, and Paul Smathers.
Bonnie and her family would especially like to thank the outstanding doctors, nurses, and care givers at Texoma Medical Center who provided the best possible care for Bonnie during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials can be made to Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Denison.
