Obituary Condolences

SHERMAN - Services for Jerry Bentley will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Pastor David Murphy of North Park Baptist Church officiating. Funeral honors will be provided by the Fort Hood Honor Guard, Killeen.

Jerry was born Aug. 15, 1945 in Sherman to J.R. and Alma (Pierce) Bentley and passed from this life on Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home in Sherman. Jerry was raised and has lived in Sherman most of his life. He enlisted in the Army in December 1963 and was honorably discharged in November 1966 and spent two years in Germany. Jerry married Carol Skipworth, on March 19, 1969 in Sherman. Jerry started his employment in 1971 with Anderson Clayton and Kraft, which is now AGP, working with the company 29 years before retiring in 2000. Jerry enjoyed working in his garden and being outdoors. He loved being with his grandchildren and spending time with family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Bentley.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Sherman; daughters, Tammie Owens and Jennie Rolen (Chad) both of Sherman; son, Steven Bentley (Thayer) of Carrollton; grandchildren, Taylor Ellison (Joshua), Katelyn Carney (Tommy), Amanda Bentley (Charles), Andrew Bentley, and Case Rolen all of Sherman, Karis and Mason Bentley of Carrollton; great-grandchildren, Brylee, Brock, Jay, C.J., and Emaleigh, mother Alma Bentley of Sherman; brothers, Richard Bentley of Austin, Bill Bentley (Starr) of McKinney, and Mike Bentley (Jackie Sue) of Whitesboro; special nephew David Mullins of Sherman; and several other nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday at Waldo Funeral Home.
