Don W. Boone Obituary
ECTOR - Don W. Boone, 76, of Ector went home to his Lord Monday, April 1, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Boyd Baptist Church, Bonham, Texas, with Bro. Ken Elliott and Bro. Lyn Holly officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, Texas. Services are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, Texas.

Don was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Tyler, Texas, to E.B. and Era Woodson Boone. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1956 and attended the University of Houston College until he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. There he received several medals, two being the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooter Medal. He was very passionate about his country and the flag.

He retired after 30 years as a Records Management and Micrographics professional in Houston, Texas where he was President of the Association for Information and Image Management, Southwest Chapter (AIIM). He was a member of the Micrographics Certification Board of Examiners, taught Micrographics and Introduction to Records Management at both North Harris County College and Houston Community College and traveled to many states and overseas training companies in Micrographics and Records Management.

Don was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 640 of the Sam Houston Area Council for ten years earning his Wood Badge Award and several other awards.

He married Betty Moore Walker in 1992 and moved to Fannin County. They had 20 years of happiness and loved to travel. Don began work as a Laundry Manager when the Choice Moore prison opened and retired from there in 2003. He was a member of Boyd Baptist Church for the last 20 years where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir and served on several committees. He loved being a member of the Texas Baptist Church Builders and traveled all over the US to donate his time to build churches. He was also a member of the Baptist Men's Disaster team. Don was a man of high character and trustworthiness and loved his family and friends to a fault. His hobby was woodworking and he left all his family with some of his work. He loved watching his grandchildren grow up and attended all of their events.

Don married Connie Thrush in 1963 and she preceded him in death in 1988. They had one child, Lance Boone. Don is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; son, Lance Boone and wife, Amanda of Willis, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Winnie Boone of Midland, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Cherie and Carrol Wayne Holtzclaw of Midland, Texas; sister-in-law, Carol Moore (wife of the late Galion Moore) and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and June Moore of Fort Worth, Texas; step children, Shari and Brent Adams of Bells, Texas, Mike and Lanna Cox of Dublin, NC, Troy and Kristi Cox of Savoy, Texas and Charlie and Amy Cox of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Walker and Maggie Boone, Audrie Farris and husband, Josh, Brittnie Adams, Lucas Adams, Matt and Mason Cox, Hailey Cox, Michael Troy Cox, Dylan and Kayla Bower; great grandchildren, Caden, Dyson, Slayton and Holden Farris; special nieces and nephews, Garry Boone and Michelle Chappell, William Chappell and Chelsea Chappell, Gayla and Johnny Britt and David and Crystal Moore.

Pallbearers will be Lance Boone, Brent Adams, Mike Cox, Troy Cox, Charlie Cox and Johnny Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Daniel Men's Class of Boyd Baptist Church.
