SHERMAN – Services for Jerry Doyle Bryson of Sherman, who died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at Beacon Hill in Denison will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1900 W. Lamberth, Sherman. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 -7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Dannel Funeral Home.

Jerry was born in Deport, the son of the late Robert and Maureen Bryson and grandson of R. H. and Lee Bryson, and Albert and Zora Singleton. Jerry graduated from Deport High School and attended Paris Jr. College. He also attended Oklahoma A&M, Denver University, Texas A&M, Dallas Barber College, and the Air Force University. He married Tommie Evelyn Sanderson Dec. 7, 1949 in Denison.

Jerry had a 24 year career with the United States Air Force where he taught elementary school, taught fire fighting, and served a short time as a pilot. The remainder of his service was in Air Force Crash Rescue Supervision. He later had an 18 year career with the City of Sherman, retiring in 1991 as a Building Official. During this time he also taught electrical and plumbing maintenance classes at two Texas Instruments Learning Centers and taught classes in fire fighting at Grayson College. Jerry was certified as a fire fighting instructor and as a building, plumbing, electrical, and construction inspector. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

His joy was his family and he is survived by Tommie, his wife of 61 years; children, Martha Little and husband Gordon, Thomas Bryson and wife Kelly, all of Sherman; grandchildren, Brooke Little Steed and husband, Ryan, Hillary Little Anderson and husband, Jacob, Ross Little, Ashton Gregg, Andrea Bryson and Alivia Bryson; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Elizabeth, Jackson, and soon-to be-born Baby Girl Anderson. Jerry is also survived by one brother, Doc Bryson of Irving and one half-brother, Robert Lee Bryson of Shreveport, La.
