Roy Metts Obituary
Roy Metts went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He was at Southern Point Nursing Home in Colbert, Okla., with his wife and the love of his life, Jean Metts, where the couple have been residing for the past year.

Roy was born on June 27, 1922 in Bryan County, Okla. Roy attended Platter School in Platter, Okla. Roy worked on the tree clearing crew for Lake Texoma before serving in the Army as an engineer during World War ll in Germany. After serving his country Roy began his construction business. He operated his business successfully for more than 50 years.

Roy married Sylvia Jean Sims on October 9, 1948. Jean was the love of Roy's life. Roy accepted the Lord Jesus shortly after he and Jean were married. He was an active member, Sunday School teacher, deacon and lay minister at Platter, where he helped to construct First Baptist Church of Platter, Okla. He, Jean, and their family lived in Platter for most of his adult life.

Roy loved the Lord Jesus and his family. Roy was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be missed dearly.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sadie Metts; his brothers, John Metts, Garvey Metts and Herbert Metts.

Roy is survived by his wife, Jean; and his children, Jack Bornheim and his wife Judy of Colbert, Okla., Jerry Bornheim and his wife Norma of Colbert, Okla., Larry Metts and his wife Patty of Cartwright, Okla.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Alice Ross of Colbert, Okla., Linda Bornheim of Silo, Okla., Rhonda Travis of Pottsboro, Tara Metts of Ada, Okla., and Tim Metts of Cartwright, Okla.; six great-grandchildren, Chris Ross of Oklahoma City, Kristen Ross of Denison, John Ross of Atoka, Okla., Gage Travis of Pottsboro, Carrington Travis of Pottsboro, and Maikel Metts of Cartwright, Okla.; seven great-greatgrandchildren, Torius and Hazen Blackwell of Denison, Justine, Cort and Alex Neely of Wichita Falls, Christa Ross of Little Rock, Ark., and Cash Travis of Pottsboro; numerous nieces and nephew and a host of friends.

Family night will be from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at American Funeral Service in Colbert, Okla.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Platter, Okla. Officiating will be Bro. John Heath and Roy's son, Larry Metts. Pallbearers will be CR Reeves, Danny Clark, Wayne Sims, Douglas Dean Collins, Anthony Travis and Gage Travis.
