WINNSBORO — Graveside services for Mr. Julius Braska Hegler, age 99, were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Hudson Street in Winnsboro, conducted by the Rev. Mark Chapman. The family received friends at 2 p.m. on the day of the service at Pope Funeral Home.
Born in Lancaster, Mr. Hegler was the son of the late Julius Hegler and Virginia Hance Small. He is survived by a loving family including one son; Terry (Terol) B. Hegler, Sr. of Winnsboro, one sister; Molly Player (Harold) of Lancaster, one grandson; Terol Hegler, Jr. (Lisa) of Irmo, two great-grandchildren; Braska and Autumn also of Irmo. He is also survived by a special nephew; A.W. Kelly (Beth) of Murrells Inlet.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Ferol Kelly Hegler, Mr. Helger is predeceased by five brothers; James Small, Roy Small, Jr., Frank Small, William Small, and Joe Small, one sister; Erlene Small Heher, daughter-in-law; Diana S. Hegler, and one granddaughter, Anna Hegler.
Mr. Hegler was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro where he served as Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and chairman of Deacons. He also served the community where is served meals on wheels. Mr. Helger, also known as Mr. A&P, ran the number one store in the Charlotte division in Winnsboro working as store Manager for forty years. He lived a long, rich life and will be dearly missed by his family and community.
