Oberlander, Arlie T. (Sonny)
Sonny Oberlander, 81, passed away unexpectedly and went to see his Lord on April 25, 2016. He was born in Napoleon, N.D. on November 2, 1934, to Theo and Ruth Oberlander. Sonny went into the Army in 1954, serving in Japan and Korea. After honorably serving for two years, he moved to Billings, Mont., where he married Audrey Sand in June 1958. The couple moved to Seattle, Wash. in 1962, and their only daughter, Wylene was born in 1968. Sonny went into the fishing industry as a maintenance engineer, spending eight years working in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. After "retirement," Sonny's passion was building and repairing just about anything, and generously helping others. He was the beloved handyman of Glenwood Mobile Estates where he and Audrey resided, and was especially known by his "little red truck." He took great joy in being a greeter at Lifepoint Church in Lake Stevens, Wash. and visiting with all of his friends in Jesus. He was an incredible husband and wonderful father with boundless love for his wife and daughter and her husband, Steve, who will miss him greatly. He is survived by too many brothers, sisters, in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to name- but he loved them all! There will be a Memorial Service at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, 804 State Ave, Marysville, Friday May 13, 2016, at 10 a.m. There will be a Military Service and inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th ST, Kent, on Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m.
