Schneider, Douglas J.  
Douglas J. Schneider, 68, of Camano Island, Wash., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Doug was born February 4, 1947, in Omaha, Neb., the third of four children of Joseph and Virginia (Novak) Schneider. The family moved to the Stanwood area and Doug attended Stanwood Schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1966. In 1967 Doug married his sweetheart, Kathy Fisher, and they raised two loving children, a son, Derek and a daughter, Tracy. An electrician by trade, hunting, crabbing and fishing were a great passion with him, friends and family and many good times were had during these outings. Preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Ron, Doug leaves his sisters, Sharon and Shirley; and his adoring wife of 48 years, Kathy Schneider (Fisher); son, Derek (Roberta) daughter, Tracy; and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Emily, Tianna, and Jenna. Doug's smile and great sense of humor will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice and Home Care for their wonderful and compassionate care. A celebration of his life is pending and will be announced at a later date.

Schulz, Eleanor Ann  
Nov. 25, 1933-March 23, 2015 Eleanor Ann Schulz, long time resident of Lynnwood, Wash., lost her battle with lung cancer on March 23, 2015. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. at the Edmonds Senior Center. Burial service will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery on May 18, 2015 at 11 a.m.

Schwartz, Frances L.  
Frances L. Schwartz was born July 28, 1924 in Los Angeles, Calif. and died May 9, 2015 in Monroe, Wash. of a stroke. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; her four children, Tana Skewis, David Shands, Chris Shands, and Daniel Shands; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Frances's life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Startup Seventh Day Adventist Church, 35808 Old Sultan-Startup Rd., Startup, WA 98293. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to provide song books for Regency Care Center

Smith, Elizabeth H. O'Day (Betty)  
Loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Betty went peacefully to a better place on May 9, 2015. Born May 31, 1917 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Mabel and Joseph Bruseau, she passed away just three weeks prior to her 98th birthday. Betty is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Len) Fortier and their sons, Robert (Melissa) and Anthony (Perry), all of Southern California; Son, Tom (Bobbi) O'Day of Mukilteo and his children, Rick (Cindy) Hansen, Shelli (Jim) Finholm, Dan (Carolyn) O'Day, Tari (Tim) Hansen Zentz, Shannon O'Day and Kelli (Eric) O'Day Hollingsworth, all of Washington. As well as having eight grandchildren, she had 19 great grandchildren and eight plus great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Bruseau of Kingman, Ariz.; and her nieces and nephews, whom she always remembered with great fondness. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Robert "Bob" F. O'Day; second husband of five years, Harry D. Smith; and brothers, Leonard, Lawrence "Larry," Jack, Dick, and Dale Bruseau. Betty was raised in Port Angeles, Wash. before becoming a long time resident of Everett, moving to Columbia Beach on Whidbey Island, and finally to Mukilteo at the age of 75. During that time she always stayed involved with her organizations and friends in the Everett area. She spent many years vacationing at her condo in Hawaii and enjoyed traveling with her close friends to Asia and Europe. She especially liked playing golf and bridge at the Everett Golf and Country Club. She continued playing bridge at the Country Club into her early 90's. Betty and Bob owned a petroleum distributorship in Everett for many years prior to his death in 1966. She was always a very strong presence in our lives and we will always miss her. We would like to thank the entire staff at Bethany Silver Lake for the excellent and compassionate care during these last three and a half years, as well as Providence Hospice for their care this past month. A private Family Memorial will be held at a later date. If you would like to make a remembrance please send it to Providence Hospice of Everett or your favorite charity.

Smith, Jenny Louise  
Jenny Louise Smith 91, passed away May 12, 2015. Born August 4, 1923 in Lakewood, Wash. daughter of George and Augusta Gregersen, she graduated from Arlington HS in 1941. She met her husband at a USO dance in Fort Lewis, Wash. and married Bennett A. Smith on August 8, 1942. They lived in Kapowsin, then resided in Everett, Wash. She retired after 30 plus years from Bethany Home. Jenny was preceded in death by husband, Ben; as well as siblings, Miller, Paul, Edna and Gladys. She is survived by brothers, Carl Gregersen, Roy Gregersen and Art Jewell; daughters, Sandra Markle, Cheryl Smith, Linda Moulton; and grandchildren, Cathy, Stacy, Pauline, Paula, Rone, Corrine, Brent, Ben and Matthew, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jenny enjoyed camping and fishing with family on the North Sky and Sekiu with Miller. There were many fond memories of traveling with Roy, Irene, Edna and GG. She always looked forward to her time with family and friends. There will be No memorial service. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local hospice.

Swanson, Rodger Dale  
Rodger Dale Swanson, of Bothell, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederic and Elizabeth Swanson; and wife, Joanne Swanson. He is survived by his daughters, Traci Kesinger and Jenny Green; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills.

Swezey, Phillip Loren  
Phillip Loren Swezey 71, of Brewster, Wash. died May 16, 2015. Phil was born April 21, 1944, the youngest of ten, to Loren and Bertha Swezey. Phil graduated from Snohomish High in 1962. He married Betty Mae Willis on August 10, 1963 in Snohomish, Wash. They made their home on the family farm along the Pilchuck River in Machias, Wash. They moved to Brewster in 1973. He owned and operated the Apple Valley Bargain Barn until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ashley and grandson, Zachary; siblings, Bud and Dale, Tina Dunkin and Shirley Mathews. He is survived by Betty at the family home; four sons, Greg (Jalea) of Carleton, Wash., Conn (Nancy) of Brewster, Chris (April) of Brewster, Stephen of Brewster; two daughters, Dana (Joe) Sweet of Welling Okla. and Jenny Piechalski (Clay) of Brewster; two brothers, Charlie and Neal and two sisters, Lorean Kryswick and Nonie Schreeder. Services will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the General Assembly and Church of the First Born on Bridgeport Bar. Burial to follow at Brewster Cemetery.

Shirley Jean Swindoll, 79, passed away May 9, 2015 in Everett, Wash. She was born on March 22, 1936 in Holly Springs, Miss. to Elva and Katie McMinn. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Swindoll; her son, Clay Swindoll; and both of her parents. She is survived by three sons; Tony Swindoll of Snohomish, Wash., Larry Swindoll of Mill Creek, Wash. and Jim Swindoll of Anaconda, Mont.; also eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
