Arthur Lambert "Vern" Swanson

Arthur Lambert Swanson, 96, or "Vern" to all who knew and loved him, passed on to be with his blessed Savior on March 28, 2013.
Vern was born August 5, 1916 in Everett, WA to Ben and Amanda Swanson. He had two sisters; Bernice (deceased) and Ruby. He graduated from Everett High School in 1933 1/2 and served valiantly in World War II.
Vern married Francis Cora (Wallin) in 1947 and together they had four children. Francis passed in 1962 after a five-year battle with cancer.
In 1967, Vern married Harriett (Quarnstrom) and together they enjoyed many years of travel, camping, and later as snowbirds in Desert Hot Springs.
Vern loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He also cherished the many friendships he made at church, his career at Safeway, and the communities he lived in. Those who knew him best would all agree that Vern always loved hugs, singing, pinochle, dogs, garage sales and building gifts for others in his workshop.
Vern grew up across the street from Grand Avenue Park and loved to play there as a child. Later in life, Vern would frequently walk through the park and meet with friends. Today, there is a bench in Grand Avenue Park memorializing his life, appropriately across the street from his childhood home.
Vern is survived by his wife, Harriett; daughter, Patti Fitzgerald (Dave); son, Charlie Swanson; daughter, Nancy Maas (Loren); son, Ben Swanson (Linda); 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at The Warm Beach Free Methodist Church on Saturday, April 6, 2013, 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Vern's name, to West Snohomish Co. YoungLife, Covenant World Relief or Warm Beach Senior Community.
