Donald Jacob Beam
Donald Jacob Beam, 67, of Everett, was born May 23, 1946 and died June 27, 2013.
Jake graduated from Everett High School in 1964 and joined the U.S. Navy
in 1965 where he served as a Hospital Corpsman in Vietnam with FMF. Jake was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for heroic achievement with the citation that he "unhesitatingly and disregarding his own safety, fearless exposed himself to the heavy enemy fire to assist the wounded... and undoubtedly was instrumental in saving the lives of several Marines."
Jake was devoted to his mother, Elsie, who taught him to make the world's best dill pickles.
He is preceded in death by the great love of his life, wife, Marguerite Beam; his sister, Arlene; brother, Nels; and twin sister, Donna Jean.
Jake was a gentle giant with a wicked sense of humor. He loved to prepare food and carefully share cooking instructions. Jake's crab dip and roast pig were extraordinary. To his friends from childhood, at the VFW
, Elks, and the China Doll, Jake was known for his big smile and wit; and he will surely be missed by all.
A celebration for Jake will be held at the China Doll Restaurant, 3001 Broadway in Everett, on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
