Marjorie K. Akana

Marjorie K. Akana passed away peacefully on September 23, 2011 at the age of 85 in Edmonds, Washington following a brief, unexpected illness. Marjorie was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from Kamehameha School in 1944.
She continued her education in California as a nursing student and then returned to Hawaii as an inter-island tour guide.
She met and married Russell K. Akana in 1949. Together, they raised five children happily and for 47 years resided in the state of Washington.
Marjorie was a talented cook and enjoyed gardening and travel with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell.
She is survived by her children, Ruslyn Adkisson (Michael) of Marysville, WA, Beverly Akana-Forrest (Richard) of Lynnwood, WA, Wayne Akana (Beverly) of Bothell, WA, Diane Akana of Seattle, WA, Jonelle Akana of Mercer Island, WA; 10 grand-children; and 10 great-grand-children.
Her loving nature and spirit will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Parish in Lynnwood, WA on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. followed by inurnment at Purdy and Walters at Funeral Hills in Lynnwood, WA. www.floralhillslynnwood.com
