Mike Tanis, 66, of Marysville, Washington passed away suddenly on December 4, 2012.
Mike was born on May 16, 1946 in Everett, WA, to Eunice and Paul Tanis. He was a resident of Everett and Marysville his entire life.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Linda Bogart on March 20, 1965 and together, they had three children.
Mike worked for the Everett School District as a custodian for 23 years. He worked as a taper and painter for many years including recent work at the new Tulalip Cabela's. Mike loved his handy work, and was a jack of all trades known for his work ethic and willingness to help anyone and everyone.
Mike loved his "snot rodding" red El Camino and his large family dearly. Some of his greatest joys came from being "Poppy" to his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Byron, and sister Linda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Tanis; two daughters, Vickie (Pete) Martinez and Mikealyn Rogers; son, Toby (April) Tanis; brothers, Jim (Marilyn) Tanis, Dale Tanis and Raymond (Michelle) Zenner; sister, Fern Grinde; grandchildren, Raelyn, Nichole, Mindi, Brandon, Brayden, Emmit, and twins Dylan and Riley; great- grandchildren, Nathan, Savannah and Haley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend, Reece (Sheryl) Morris, and many more friends.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Mike's boss and long time family friend Big John and his wife Lenetta Rivera.
Mike had a heart of gold and was the rock of this family. He will be loved and missed forever and always.
Services will be held at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home - Marysville on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. Potluck reception will follow, down the street at American Legion Hall, 119 Cedar Avenue.
