Mona Rae Korhonen, 78, passed away quietly on December 10, 2012 as a result of a long courageous battle with Leukemia.
Mona leaves behind her loving husband, Elroy L. Korhonen; daughters, Carrie Mavis (Craig), Claudia DeAngelo, Cathleen Anderson (Edward), Christel VanAssche (Steve), Colleen Wrolstad; and sister, Yvonne M. Grennan. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Brandie Glass-Dangel (Paul), Cecalie Keen, Tyler Keen, Ryan Cochran, Taylor Cochran, Mark Mavis, Mason Wrolstad, Matthew Wrolstad, Mari Anderson.
Mona was born February 24, 1934 in Mount Vernon, WA. The majority of her childhood was spent in Enumclaw, WA. She worked 18 years with Edmonds School District fulfilling her passion to work with mentally challenged children. She was currently a long-time member of the Lynnwood Emblem Club.
Mona's life was all about her family. She was an energetic, beautiful, woman whose sense of humor brought smiles to each person she met. Passionate for the game of golf, she looked forward to the weekly rounds with her loving husband and daughters. Faithful UW Husky football fan and 35 year season ticket holder she loved tailgating with family and friends. Mona and Elroy together spent much of their time in Arizona where they made many new friends.
A remarkable woman, mother and wife whose love will live in our hearts forever.
At Mona's request, A Celebration of Life will be January 12, 2013, 2:30 p.m. at Lynnwood Elks Lodge, 6620 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Mona's family is eternally grateful for the warm and compassionate care provided by the staff at Swedish Hospital Treatment Center and Dr. Michael Milder.
