N.L. (Larry) Allen-Norton
N.L. Allen-Norton, Larry passed away peacefully with family at Blueberry Gardens in Bothell, Washington on November 9, 2012 after a brief illness.
Larry was born on Camano Island as Necia Larene Weston at the family homestead on Rowe Road on August 19, 1931, to her parents Oren and Nella Areta Weston (Rowe).
Moving to Everett Washington at the height of the depression after the premature death of her father, she graduated from Everett High School and took classes at Everett Community College. Beginning work at a Dolloff Motors car dealership in Everett in the late 1940's, she began a long term career as a bookkeeper and accountant.
Larry married T. Dean Allen in Everett in the early 1950's, having four children. During her career, prior to owning her own company in Honolulu, she worked with Olson's Thriftway at Silver Lake in Everett, Skyline Marina & Hopke Motorcycle in Anacortes, and Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island. After retirement she was an active volunteer at the Everett Library, the Everett Lions Club, and as a voluntary tax consultant.
After meeting her second husband, Roy Norton, at Roche Harbor after his sailing trip to Tahiti, they married and moved to Honolulu for a new life adventure. They later returned to Everett to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Larry loved to sew, garden, read, travel, cook, and spent many happy hours in her early life flying, boating, and camping. She attracted many friends with a sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a warm heart. She made strangers feel welcome and was quick to invite people who needed a friend into her life and home.
Larry is survived by four children: Tom and Pam Allen, Brian and Pamela Allen, Karen and Rick Witters, and Kimberly Cohen; as well as a step-daughter, Barbara and Chris Sherer. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
