Skip Ahrens

Harold "Skip" G. Ahrens, age 80, of Silvana, WA, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at home. He was born February 16, 1927, in Jamaica N.Y. to George and Matilda (Ampfer) Ahrens. After high school graduation Skip joined the U.S. Navy and was discharged as a Pharmacist's Mate 3/C after serving on the U.S.S. Menifee (APA202). He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and served in the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Skip married and had four children, Robert, Donna, Debra and George. In 1974 he married his lasting love, Shirley, adding Ron, Andrew and James to his family. They were married 32 years. He held several jobs in his lifetime, finally retiring from GTE in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers. "Let the family reunion start!"
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, 804 State Avenue, Marysville, WA and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2007, at The Little White Church on the Hill, Silvana, WA. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Church. Skip was an informal man. The family requests you to wear casual clothes. Suit and tie are not required. Burial with military honors will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will be held at Peace Lutheran Church following the Graveside service.
