Thomas Jerome Harrigan

Thomas Jerome Harrigan

With a twinkle in his eye, and a skip in his step, Tom joined a multitude of cherished friends and family in heaven on February 22, 2013 at the age of 84. Born in the Bronx, New York, Tom graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and served in the Navy. He married Kathleen Ormsby in August 1952 and together they raised their six children. Tom held one of the pioneering jobs in atomic submarines while working at the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics.
Tom moved his family to the great northwest in 1967 and pursued his love of snow skiing into his 70's. He was employed by Western Gear in Everett for 17 years. Always hospitable, the Harrigan home was known to throw a Saturday barbecue that could last for days. He loved people and he collected friends from all over the world.
He leaves behind three sons, and their wives: Tom Harrigan and Christina Nichols of Vashon, WA; Neil Harrigan and Pamela Howard of Mount Vernon, WA and Patrick and Laura Harrigan of Anacortes, WA; two daughters and their husbands: Kathleen and Robert Lefcourt and Maureen and Tom Buennagel, all of Everett. He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Cosmo, Ryan, Dylan, Jackson and Grace; and a great-grandson to be born this spring. Additionally, he leaves two sisters-in-law, Pat Ormsby of Mukilteo and Eileen Ormsby of Seattle; and many relatives on the East coast.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen; and their son, Michael.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Mukilteo.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County: 2731 Wetmore, Suite 500, Everett, WA 98201.
