Lorraine Luschen Obituary

Lorraine Luschen

Lorraine Luschen, age 80, passed away on January 31, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends. She was born on October 21, 1930 in San Pedro, California. Lorraine married in 1950, she had four children, including identical twins. Following a divorce in 1961, Lorraine and her children settled in Washington where she worked tirelessly as a single parent raising her kids. She loved hosting and attending family get togethers, especially during the holidays. She remarried later in life and though it ended in divorce, remained best of friends and cared for her former husband until his death in 1999.
She was a life-long music lover, playing piano, singing, dancing, and playing records on her jukebox. She had a fondness for do it yourself projects and could tackle almost anything. She loved to garden, and her hard work was reflected in many beautiful landscapes through the years. Most recently, she enjoyed visits from a variety of critters to her backyard sanctuary in Snohomish, WA especially the hummingbirds. She loved animals, raising Alaskan Malamutes, and providing a loving home to a variety of pets including dogs, horses, and cats. She was passionate about politics, community, current events, and a devoted fan of the Huskies and the Seahawks. She was appreciated for her keen sense of humor and amazing resilience.
She worked in various occupations including bookkeeping, claims adjuster, flight test secretary, medical office assistant, and enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in real estate for nearly 30 years. Following retirement, she served as a court appointed volunteer guardian ad litem, advocating for children in Snohomish County.
Her children were the most important thing in her life. She was unique, one of a kind, and inspired us with her courage under fire, especially during the last year of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law; former husband; and beloved pets.
Survived by four children and spouses, Sharon and Michael Cordisco, William and Patricia Pedersen, Michael and Doris Pedersen, James and Darla McAfee; six grandchildren, Shannon, David, Heather, Cody, Tony, and Savannah; and very special nieces; nephews; and friends.
Special thanks to Evergreen Hospice and staff of Vineyard Park for their care and support to Lorraine and her family in the last few months.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12 at Bauer Funeral Chapel in Snohomish, WA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Evergreen Hospice or your favorite charity.
