Dean Larsen Obituary

Dean Elwin Larsen

Dean E. Larsen went home to be with God on June 2, 2011 in Snohomish, WA. He was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on October 19, 1946 to Sanford and Ella (Karlgaard) Larsen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Edith; sons, Jim, Jason and Jeremy; and the light of his life, his grandson, Tristin Larsen. He also leaves his sister, Shirley Johnson; brother, Terry (Pat) Larsen; beloved sister-in-law, Shirley Larsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth; his parents, Sanford and Ella; and his brothers, Harley Donald and Dale Sanford Larsen.
Dean graduated from Cascade High School in 1965 and attended Bible College. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Machias Ward and was blessed with a wonderfully supportive church family.
Dean proudly spent his career at The Everett Herald (and Western Sun) starting in the mailroom in August of 1965. He held a number of positions in the circulation department at the newspaper including night clerk, district manager, zone manager, assistant circulation manager and home delivery manager before retiring in February, 1992. He considered his co-workers his second family and appreciated their love and support over the years.
Beyond his deep love of family, Dean also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time in his yard in rural Snohomish. He collected single-action Colt pistols and Case knives.
Graveside services will be held on June 13 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 4504 Broadway in Everett. Instead of flowers, the family is hoping that people will bring red and gold balloons to release at the conclusion of the service.

This is me Dean saying its been 2 years now. I still hurt so bad and miss you more than I ever thought possible. My time stands still from the moment I found you. Everything is marked by that.
Tristin is now 17yr. old he talks about you every time I see him. You meant so much to him. He and I went up to see your stone last week he hadn't seen your new one. He stood there and talked to you like you we're right in front of him.
Yes life goes on but never the same the fun is gone forever.
Love never stops it gets stronger. I talk to you all day long. I laugh at your silly jokes and cry because your gone.
I love you.....FOREVER AND A DAY.

Dear Edith,

I am sorry for your loss of Dean. I remember you from a very young age and Dean from high school days. Dean and I commuted to the Bible College in Ballard together. We were also good hiking partners during that time of our lives. Those were important times in our lives. Dean will be missed by a great many people, including me.

Again my sympathies and prayers go with you. And may God’s grace, love and strength sustain you through these difficult times.

If Dean hadn't rescued me from Jon "The Bear" Horne on my first day of work, my 33 year-career at the Herald may well have ended on the very first day. I have such fond memories of that time in my life as I was so warmly welcomed into the Herald and Western Sun family. I feel very blessed to have known Dean, Edith and their beloved boys, Jim, Jason and Jeremy. With heartfelt sympathy and love,

I was saddened to hear of Dean's passing. My condolences to Edith and her family. I attended your wedding.
I worked with Dean for several years at the Herald. He eventually became my boss as Home Delivery Manager. It was a pleasure working with Dean as he was understanding of us managers' needs and he had compassion for everyone. I never knew Dean was a Marine. I will miss him. Semper Fi, my friend.
