Kaare Klykken
1929-2011

Kaare Klykken, beloved husband and father, died peacefully on April 1, 2011. Kaare was born May 3, 1929 on the family farm near Oysletta, Norway. His parents were Elise and Brede Klykken. Kaare was the youngest of eight children. He was nine years old at the time of the German occupation. In the 1940's he served in the N.A.T.O. Army. As a young man he also worked in logging and with botanicals. He helped build a ski resort in Bjorli, Norway. He came to the United States in 1954, became a journeyman carpenter in Wyoming, then went to California where he worked as a finish carpenter and was considered one of the best.
Kaare came from a family with many musical talents such as composing, conducting and performing, which continued throughout his entire life. He was the director of the Normanna Glee Club in Oakland, California for 14 years and participated in more than 35 Sangerfests of the Pacific Coast Norwegian Singers Association.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon; his son, Hans; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
No services will be held, but, sing a song when you remember him, the most honest man a person could know.
