Gramps- Your service was very nice today. There was a great mixture of friends and family that you have met along the way, it was so nice to hear how each person knew you and the memories they had with you. As we all gathered together and told stories of our memories of you it made me very thankful to have you in all of our lives you were always here for us in many ways you gave us the love, time, compassion, and guidance that we needed as we grew into the adults we are today. We all love and miss you greatly. You were a great gramps, a dad, and an uncle rest in peace gramps!

Uncle Mert, May you rest in peace. I will miss you dearly. I remember how you would always call mom "sis" and now looking back how endearing that was. I will smile when I think of the things you would say that would make us all laugh. Always trying to make us look up, when there really wasn't anything to look up at. You always got me. For all your family and friends I wish them peace and comfort.
Love, Dave, Liz, Nic and Kyle.

Mert and I were classmates, R.H.S. 53. Looking back I realize he was right out of Central Casting. In High School days he had a manner and insight that belied his age. I looked for him in American Graffiti.
He was the quintessential "sidekick". I imagine he is over at the "Jocky" right now with Rog, Russ and the rest of the N.R.G having
an "Oly".

Mert,
You were a kind and loving man who will be missed by all. I will always remember your visits to Colorado. There wasn't a time with you that you didn't make me laugh. I wish that we could attend your service, but know that we are thinking of you.

My sympathies go out to Mert's family. I will never forget the great times we had playing softball in the 60's for Jim's Tavern in Renton. Mert was a special guy. He was our coach, pitcher, as well as a great guy to be around. He will never be forgotten.

I will miss you and our chats. I totally agree with Rick, you were such a funny man. Some of my fondest memories include you Mert. You were given great gifts of kindness and compassion and you readily shared those gifts with everyone. Thank you! Every time I think of you, your laughter will echo in my mind. You always had a smile for everyone. I love you and miss you.

I will sure miss Uncle Mert's funny jokes and plays on words. He so loved life and it showed in his smiles. He was very proud of his grandkids and great grandkids. I loved playing card games and board games when he would come to visit CO or go with us on camping trips - he always kept it fun. He was a loving man who will be missed dearly.

I would also like to express my sympathy to Mert's family. I met Mert in the 1940's where we attended the 6th grade at Henry Ford Grade School, a friendship that endured thru High School, our time served in the Marine Corps together with many other friends from our early years in Renton. We shared our friendship into recent months of 2010 & at RHS Reunions, as well as inviting Mert to be one of us in the original "NRG"'s (Friendly group of kids who grew up from before elementry school times living in North
Renton thus the name NR"Gang"). Mert will be deeply missed as will his humor & goodwill to his friends. I'm sorry I'm in Hawaii until June 2012 & could not attend Merts service, but please know I'll be there in heart & mind.

Sorry to hear we've lost another good one. I also, like Glenn, haven't seen Mert for many years. but remember him well from the old Renton Softball League. I am also a Rentonite liks Mert and spent many hours rehashing old times, either on or off the field and over a few cold ones. My sympathy goes out to all his family.

I would like to express my sympathy to Mert's extended family and friends. I have not seen or talked with Mert for many years. I do have many fond memories of Mert from years ago during the late 50's and early 60's. Mert was 6 years older than me but I knew him and his friends very well. I played against Mert in the old Renton Fastpitch League. Mert pitched for Jim's Tavern, and naturally after the games, we would gather somewhere and share some laughs and of course a few refreshments. I will never forget those moments.

I cannot even begin to explain what you meant to me and the rest of us Gramps. So many memories, so many good times and never any bad ones. Thank you so much for you for caring about us kids and making us such a big part of our lives. You saved us all in so many ways because you gave us the time, love, and compassion that every child deserves. I will never forget all of the times spent at the Mukilteo beach, swimming at the athletic club, the trips to Canada and the many times spent at the park. Thank you for coming to my sports games, and always being there when we needed you. I will always cherish the time we spent together and I will forever be grateful for the knowledge that you shared with me. I love you Gramps you will forever be in my heart.

Thank you Grandpa for all your love and everything you did for us. Some of my best childhood memories were with you at the beach, the sleepovers at your house with the shadow, and the week I spent in Victoria with you. I was incredibly lucky to be able to spend so much time with you last summer, even if it was just trips to the doctors. You had the best stories! I know that myself and your 7 other grandchildren loved you just as much as you loved us. May you forever rest in peace Gramps
