Barbara Sawyer Obituary

Barbara Gene Sawyer (Crawford)

Barbara Gene Crawford Sawyer, born May 19, 1935, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2011 at her home in Snohomish, WA with family by her side.
Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Prescott; her parents; and a younger brother.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Ted Sawyer, of 26 years; her children, Warren Prescott, Craig Prescott, Linda Barnes (Ron), Terry Prescott (Kim) and Kevin Prescott (Jamie); 26 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; along with four brothers and one sister.
Barbara was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings in the church: a den mother with cub scouting, Relief Society President, Primary teacher and Missionary as well as many other callings. One of her greatest joys was serving as a missionary from January 2010 to March 2011 at the Mukilteo Bishop's Storehouse.
Barbara had many gifts, talents, and passions. She had an incredible talent with flowers and enjoyed arranging them as well as making baby sock corsages with them. She loved doing genealogy and family history. Barbara was a caterer and catered weddings and other events for over 40 years. She enjoyed learning and gaining knowledge, and then sharing it with others to help them. Barbara enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She especially loved working in her "celestial garden" that she affectionately referred to as the "C Garden". Barbara loved to travel. She spent time traveling to see her children and grandchildren as well as traveling with her family, taking in the sights and visiting LDS Temples.
Barbara's greatest gift and passion was giving love and service to the Lord and her family. She loved them with all her heart. We are very blessed to have been taught by her.
There will be a special video presentation as a tribute to Barbara on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 9 a.m. with the memorial service afterwards at 10 a.m.
Purdy & Walters with Cassidy are handling the arrangements.
The tribute and memorial services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 10120 Chapel Hill Rd. Lake Stevens, WA 98258.

It was a pleasure to work with Barbara at the Bishop's Storehouse. We learned much from her and Ted and her example of caring for the patrons was wonderful to behold. We are all better people for getting to know and love her. Now she is touching lives on the other side of the veil. She will be missed her, but I have no doubt that her work will continue. Love,Omar and Jean Reiersen

There is no way to even begin to try and count how many lives she Touched in such a positive way, I will always remember how she touched mine, anybody who knew her loved to to be around her because she would make you feel better no matter what what wrong in your life at the time.... She will be missed but welcomed on the other side with open arms, The one thing that sums this up best is one of the quotes she used to say... "To know me is to love me" I know anyone who knew her would agree!

No words can fully express the love I have for Barbara. She was truly an "angel" sent to earth to enrich many lives. Barbara's unconditional love and service she gave to me and to so many will forever be a Christlike example we can pass forward. I will hold dear the memories created serving with Barbara in church and memories created with family. My love and condolences are sent to Ted and to Barbara's children and grandchildren. Take care. Love ya, Jean
