Irene Anglin Obituary

Irene Marie Anglin

After a prolonged illness, Irene Marie Anglin, age 87, passed away on February 17, 2011. She was born Irene Marie Armstrong, in her family home in Everett, to parents Charles and Harmiena Armstrong on October 2, 1923.
Irene grew up in Everett, attending the Everett Christian School and graduated from Everett High School. She served her country during WWII at the Boeing assembly plant in Everett as a rivet bucker, an original "Rosie the Riveter". On September 11, 1942, she married Fred Postma in Everett. She later joined the Army Air Forces Base Unit as a nurse in California until the end of the war.
After the war, Irene and Fred moved to California; then eventually back to Everett with their three children. Four more children were born in Everett and all seven attended Everett Christian School. She married Herbert Anglin on December 9, 1968.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Anglin; her sisters, Shirley Hamilton, Vi Dykstra, Ann VandenBosch; her brother, Herm Armstrong; daughters, Carol Colyn and Darlene Udman; and her sons, Sammy Postma and Ted D. Postma.
As a mother, Mom's biggest joy in life was her family. She was always there to lend an ear as we grew into adulthood and never wavered in support of her children. She always listened without judgment and with a heart full of love.
She leaves behind two sons, Frank (Victoria) Postma and Hank Postma; two daughters, Mary (Frank) Henderson and Peggy (Michael) Shaw; stepson, David Anglin; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all "love and miss her like crazy". She also leaves three sisters, Myrt DeRooy, Jean (Bill) Harrell and Evie Dykstra; along with many special nieces and nephews in California, Washington, Alaska and beyond.
Irene's services will be held at Purdy & Walters Funeral Home, 1702 Pacific Avenue, Everett, on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., with viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery for the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to donate to the Everett Christian School.
A special thank you to Irene's caregivers at Sunrise View Convalescent Center.

Irene- A beautiful, always smiling soul. The love in your heart was shared with all. You had a chair, a cup of coffee, and a listening ear for everyone. What a wonderful mother in law, and what lucky children and grandchildren you had. In God's warmth and Grace with the family gone before you.
