Margaret Nilson Obituary

Margaret Evelyn Nilson

Margaret Nilson of Shoreline, WA, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
She was born June 29, 1920 in Petersburg, AK. The daughter of Christian and Mamie Tveten, she was the fourth of four children. She graduated valedictorian from Petersburg High School and attended Linfield College in Oregon for one year. She married the late Melvin Nilson of Seattle in October 1948. During their 38 years of marriage, they resided in Seattle and Edmonds, moving to Marysville in 1957, where they raised their four children.
Margaret was a woman of great faith, a longstanding member of Marysville First Assembly of God for over 30 years, and actively involved in various Christian ministries such as the Women's Refuge of Everett and seniors' ministries. She lived out her faith in a very practical manner, recognizing the needs of those whom she encountered and reaching out to them.
She is survived by her four children, Craig and his wife, Barbara of Winthrop; Kurt and his wife Betsy of Lake Forest Park; Marsha Nilson of Shoreline; and Ann Hopkins and her husband Bryan of Lake Stevens; and her seven grandchildren, Brandon Nilson and his wife Nicole, Brock Nilson, Andy Nilson and his wife Gina, Kyle Nilson, Lindsey Nilson, Amanda Hopkins and Alex Hopkins; as well as great grandchildren, Taylor Nilson, Preston Nilson, and Hannah Nilson. She is also survived by her sister, Ruthie of Camano Island.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Marysville Cemetery.
Arrangements made by Schafer-Shipman Funeral Home of Marysville.
