Loretta Duncombe Obituary

Loretta 'Anne' Duncombe

Loretta 'Anne' Duncombe, 76, of Lynnwood, WA passed away on Tuesday, on January 18, 2011.
Anne was born in Detroit, MI on August 29, 1934 and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1952. Her faith led her to begin her studies to become a nun in the early 60s before she switched gears to experience marriage and the joys of motherhood. She met and married David R. Duncombe in Alamagordo, New Mexico in 1962 where they began their family.
Anne was later offered a position as a court reporter for King County Superior Court in 1973 and worked there until her retirement in March of 2001. Upon her retirement, she received recognition as the last King County "Gregg Shorthand" reporter with an article in the Seattle Times.
Anne never slowed down, volunteering her time at the Lynnwood Food Bank and working in the offices of her beloved church, St. Thomas More. She was an active member of Catholic Daughters of America, holding positions in the group and attending bible study whenever possible.
Animals were always a highlight in Anne's life, whether adopting strays her children brought home or simply enjoying her Kitties & Puppies calendar each year. Anne always found solace in curling up on the couch to read a good murder mystery and cuddling with her three Shiba-Inus. Fitness was also an integral part in Anne's life - she was always ready to try a new workout fad and loved keeping up with her granddaughter at the gym.
Anne is survived by her brother, Jimmy Noonan; and her sister, Theresa O'Connell; son, Douglas Duncombe; daughter, Denise Messick and son-in-law Jay Messick; granddaughter, Rochelle Robles and her husband Arlen Robles; and grandson, Kyle Messick.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Lynnwood Food Bank.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Januaury 23, 2011 at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 5th Avenue S, Edmonds, WA.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Thomas More Church, 6511 176th Street SW, Lynnwood, WA with reception to follow, and burial at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
Arrangements are under the care of Beck's Funeral Home, Edmonds, WA (425) 771-1234.
