Ray Daniel Obituary

Ray Allen Daniel, Jr.
Feb. 19, 1963 – April 25, 2011

Allen went peacefully to greet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by the love of his life with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage in January, and three dearly loved children: Sydney (16), Conner (13) and Will (12). He is also survived by his parents, Ray and Janet Daniel (Cashiers, NC); his sister, Beth and her husband, Tommy Holder (Atlanta, GA); and their children Lindsey and Kelsey; his stepdaughter, Barbara Rea and her husband, Dave (San Diego, CA); as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Allen was born February 19, 1963 in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Westminster School (Atlanta, GA) and Vanderbilt University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. After college he worked for Tectura Corporation, AT&T Wireless, Stanford Telecom and Westinghouse. It was at Westinghouse where he found himself working on projects with his future wife, Jody. In the fall of 1999 Allen and Jody moved cross country for a new job alongside an old friend in Seattle, WA.
Allen liked to travel. He enjoyed bachelor and family adventures with his lifelong friend, Ted Warren and his family, as well as holidays with Jody and the children. He enjoyed worship, volunteering and meeting with his men's group from church. Allen was very handy and completed projects alongside his father and his children. Recently, he had a new hobby producing a number of beautiful stained glass pieces. He enjoyed being part of the King's Schools community.
Allen's favorite pastimes were watching his children play sports and creating in the kitchen and around the grill.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave., Edmonds, WA. A celebration of Allen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 4th Ave N., Edmonds, WA, officiated by Community Christian Fellowship.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to King's Schools (kingsschools.org ) Community Christian Fellowship, (ccfedmonds.org), or the cancer organization of your choice.

Mr and Mrs. Daniel,
Yarnell and I are heartbroken over Allen's death. He was a dear friend of ours since the first few days of our freshman year at Vandy. If it wasn't for Allen I would have never made it through chemistry lab. In addition, he and Yarnell were fraternity brothers; Allen was a groomsman in our wedding and we had the pleasure of witnessing his and Jody's beautiful ceremony. Through the years we've shared the joys of bringing children into the world and watching them grow into teenagers as well as the roller coaster of emotions of his battle with multiple myeloma. He taught us so much about faith and courage and every opportunity I have had, I have shared his vision of Heaven with friends and family. We will cherish the memories of our times together until we see Allen again on the other side. Know that your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.
